Ingredients:
- Sundakkai / Turkey berry- 1 handful
- Shallots - 5
- Onion - 1
- Tomato - 1
- Garlic - 5 pods
- Pepper - 1/2 tbs
- Jeera - 1/2 tbs
- Fenugreek - 1/4 tbs
- Mustard - 1/2 tbs
- Tamarind - small amla size
- Chilly powder - 1/2 tbs
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tbs
- Curry leaves
- Salt
- Gingelly oil- 2 tbs
- Soak tamarind in water for 5 mins
- Wash sundakkai and crush it slightly and wash again
- In a pan add oil , onion , pepper corns , fenugreek , cumin , salt and tomato and cook till it becomes mushy
- Allow it to cool and blend to a smmoth paste by adding chilly powder , turmeric powder and coriander powder
- In the same pan add gingelly oil , mustard , chopped garlic and shallots , tomato and fry well
- Add in turkey berry , salt and cook for few minutes
- Add in the ground paste and water and cook for few minutes
- Finally add tamarind extract and allow it to boil well
- Serve with hot rice by adding gingelly oil / ghee
