MUTTON KUZHAMBU

Ingredients:
  • Mutton - 1/2 kg
  • Shallots - 15 to 20
  • Cloves - 3
  • Cinnamon - 2
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Saunf - 1/2 tbs 
  • Pepper corns - 1/2 tbs
  • Tomato - 1
  • Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbs
  • Green chilly - 2
  •  Curry leaf
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbs
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tbs
  • Coconut - 4 tbs (grated)
  • Salt
  • Oil - 3 tbs
Instructions:

  1. In a pan add oil and saute shallots for 3 mins
  2. In a blender add fried shallots , ginger garlic paste  , clove , cinnamon , pepper annd fennel seeds and grind to a smooth paste
  3. Heat a pressure cooker add oil , cinnamon , clove , saunf , shallots , chilly and curry leaf and saute well
  4. Add in washed mutton pieces then add turmeric powder , coriander powder and salt . Cook till mutton leaves water
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and cook till tomato turns mushy
  6. Add the ground paste and saute till its raw smell leaves
  7. Add a cup of water ( 250 ml) and pressure cook for 5 whistles
  8. Once its cooked add coconut paste and allow it to boil for 5 mins
  9. Finally add coriander leaves and serve
